Registration Renewal – important reminder!

The deadline for Social Work England (SWE) registration renewal is fast approaching!

If you have not renewed your application by 30th November 2020 this can impact on your ability to practice if you are removed from the SWE register.

What is CPD?

Continual Professional Development is part of your career development as a Social work practitioner. It is a requirement to evidence this to qualify for renewal with SWE. CPD can include any training, workshops, keeping up with relevant news or podcasts, or other extra, off the job, activities that you may have participated in that go towards strengthening your skill set.

What do I need to do?

If you have not already done so, you need to:

  • Activate your account with Social Work England, (If you were previously registered with the HCPC, an account will have already been set up for you. To activate the account, enter your email address, and click ‘send confirmation code’. This will send you an email prompt to choose a new password.)
  • Complete your renewal application
  • Upload at least one piece of CPD.

Whilst on the site, be sure to check:

  • Your personal details are correct
  • Declare anything that may affect your fitness to practise such as ongoing investigations or convictions
  • Pay the £90 renewal fee.

CPD is a way of evidencing that you are updating and developing your skills as a social worker.

You can include case studies; evidence logs and presentations to back up your CPD if you wish and represent how it has benefited both you and the families you support.

Remember, are only required to update one piece of CPD and quality is better than quantity.

Please visit our linkedin and facebook for further tips and information about creative ways to meet the CPD expectations.
